Hella Comix is a quarterly reading series organized by the East Bay BIPOC Cartoonists! Local cartoonists of color can come read their work, share their books and zines, and talk comics with local fans. We also have delicious homemade snacks AND we host a free art supply swap!!

Our main series will always take place somewhere in the East Bay, but we do sometimes host satellite readings in SF or at libraries all over the Bay Area.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

As social media and the internet is co-opted by Big Tech and billionaire interests, artists need different, safer ways to build networks and share our work. We want to develop an in-person, local platform to elevate work by local indie BIPOC cartoonists!

WHO GETS TO READ?

There is no experience necessary and our only requirement is that you identify as BIPOC. (OBVIOUS RESTRICTIONS apply--we are not platforming any fascist content ok, please be serious).
